Graduate Studies Council
The Graduate Studies Council is a deliberative and advisory body on graduate matters, chaired by the Prorector for Graduate Studies, who is appointed by the Rector.
The responsibilities of the Graduate Studies Council are:
- propose graduate policies and regulations to the University Council;
- approve the creation, suspension, and discontinuation of graduate programs, in accordance with current legislation;
- act as an appellate body in graduate education matters, when illegality is alleged in proceedings originating from the Councils of the University Units;
- draft and approve the council’s internal regulations;
- propose regulations and guidelines regarding faculty workload to the University Council;
- establish evaluation policies for the graduate programs;
- issue opinions on matters, plans and proposals within its area of responsibility;
- elect the Council’s representatives to the University Council, with no more than one representative from each University Unit permitted.
