Graduate Scholarships
HOW TO GET A SCHOLARSHIP?
Graduate students interested in obtaining a scholarship should contact the program in which they are enrolled for information on the specific requirements and procedures. Each Graduate Program (PPG) is responsible for selecting students and awarding CAPES, FAPESC and CNPq scholarships.
Other scholarship opportunities:
- The Supplementary Student Scholarship Program at UFSC offers scholarships to graduate students admitted through affirmative action policies. PROPG published the calls for applications and forwads them to the PPGs, which are responsible for nominating scholarship candidates.
- The Institutional Program for Internationalization (PrInt/CAPES-UFSC) and some international cooperation agreements also offer scholarship opportunities. For more information, visit: https://propg.ufsc.br/cin/
- Funding agencies such as CAPES, CNPq, and FAPESC, among others, offer a variety of scholarship opportunities for researchers and graduate students in Brazil and abroad. These opportunities are managed directly by the funding agencies. Therefore, interested applicants are encouraged to check the agencies’ websites regularly.
- CAPES and CNPQ, through the Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Pós-Graduação (PEC-PG), also offer specific scholarships for students from developing countries that maintain cultural and/or educational cooperation agreements with Brazil. SANDWICH DOCTORAL PROGRAM (PDSE)
- PDSE scholarships are awarded exclusively by CAPES through calls for applications published according to CAPES’ availability.
- PROPG is responsible for endorsing the applications approved by eligible Graduate Programs (PPGs), publishing the selection results, monitoring scholarship recipients and alumni, keeping CAPES informed about the progress of the study period abroad, and ensuring compliance with the rules of the PDSE.

NATIONAL POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH PROGRAM (PNPD/CAPES)
The CAPES National Postdoctoral Program (PNPD/CAPES) is an institutional grant program that supports postdoctoral research in Graduate Programs (PPGs) recommended by CAPES.
The number of grants offered varies according to criteria defined by CAPES, which may include the Program’s performance in the quadrennial evaluation, strategic priority areas, the region where the higher education institution is located, among other factors. The PPGs are responsible for selecting and monitoring grant recipients, as well as defining their objectives and activities.
